一、要有良好的心理素质。这是写好英语作文的首要条件。如果学生还没动手写，就有这样的一种心态：“英语作文好难啊，怎么写呢？”或者“那么难写，我肯定写不好，随便应付得了”，那么他/她肯定写不好文章。所以学生要沉得住气，静下心来，坚信自己不管是什么题材都会尽最大的努力写好作文，这样才为写好整篇作文打下良好的心理基础。

三、要审好人称。文章中人称选择恰当对表达文章的基本思想、描述事物及情节都很有帮助。应特别注意英文中人称的阴阳是很容易被忽视的。比如有好多学生经常she和he不分。
四、要确定行文中即将用到的时态。有时全文都只需用同一种时态，但也有很多时候要用几种，一篇文章如果多处出现谓语动词的时态错误，就要降等给分。这就要求学生在审好体裁的基础上学会灵活变通，正确使用因时态不同而不断变换的动词。
五、要突出要点。每篇文章都有它的要点，高考英语作文同样也不例外。作文的得分点也集中在要点的发挥上。每篇作文一般都有4----6个要点，阅题时学生应该认真找出这些要点并列出相关的关键词，这样既能保证要点齐全又能节省时间。
六、要层次分明。根据不同的文章体裁，学生在行文中要注意如何才能做到层次分明，这样才能让读者一目了然。比如记叙文大多数以人物活动、时间顺序或事情发展过程为线索，说明文大多以时间空间为线索，议论文的写作一般按先总后分或先分后总的顺序。
七、妙用关联词、插入语和谚语等。学生在平时的学习当中，会学到很多关联词、插入语和谚语等。如果学生能够在达到以上几个要求的基础上妙用它们，那么文章一定会因此锦上添花，从而使得到高分作文不再是梦想。
总之，作文教学是英语教学中的重点和难点，正所谓“冰冻三尺非一日之寒”。得高分，并非一朝一夕能办到的事情。学生只有在老师的指导下，牢记这些策略，刻苦训练，多方积累知识和经验，才能决胜高考。
