六、Keep our school clean

My Favourite TV Programme
Nowadays the 26th Olympic Games are being held in AtLanta. It is the most popular program all over the world and also my favourite progamme.
In 1992 I was watching the 25th Olympic Games on TV with my schoolmates in China. We cheered at every success the Chinese athelets had. As the Chinese national flag was rising and the national anthem ringing in my ears I was moved to tears just as the medalists. It is the happiest moment for them and for me. I am proud of being a Chinese.
Now that I am in America, things are different. I am so near to the games yet so far away emotionally from those watching around lite. Whenever the Chinese made a mistake, the Americans cheered, which angered me greatly. Each country wants every gold medal. That is understandable. The problem is that they have so much prejudice against our motherland.
I admired Wang Yifu's courage and stamina. He lost his gold medal because of his illness. As soon as he regretfully put down his gun, he fell unconscious and was earried away on a stretcher.
Mo Huilen also lost her gold medal painfully. The young girl was not satisfied with a silver and braved for the gold at the risk of losing it. She showed the true spirit of sportsmanship. 初学英语的人在写英语作文时缺点之一就是句子太短，句型过于单调呆板，缺少变化。往往机械地使用“主—谓—宾”或“主—系—表”结构。由于对英语丰富多彩的表达方式不熟悉，写出的作文就像儿童作品一样幼稚。解决的方法有二：
1开头句多样化
在英语修辞学中，用主语开头的句子称为“主语领先句”（subject-first sentence）。从语法的角度讲，主语领先句并无任何错误，但在语篇中过多使用或连续使用主语领先句，在写作技巧上就是一个缺点了。为了使文章读起来生动活泼，保持平衡匀称，或突出强调某些成分，我们可以使用除主语开头以外的其他成分开头的英语句子。例如：

语篇是一个完整的语义单位，是依靠句子来实现的。语篇不是句子的任意堆砌，构成语篇的句子必须是相关联的。同一语篇中句子之间内容上的联系往往是通过一些连接词实现的。英语中的连接词表示的是前后句子之间或上下文之间语意上的关系而非语法关系。为了保证语篇中句子间逻辑内容的衔接和连贯，英语学习者必须掌握和熟练运用一些常用的连接词，即“过渡语”。初学者可以有意识地套用这些连接词。英语的连接词常常用于句首。英语的连接词分为四大类，分别表示上下文之间的不同连接关系。
第一、递进关系

During my mom did the cooking in the kitchen, I saw her head was sweaty.I told her I could help her and she accepted.

I think my teacher got out of bedon the wtong side this afternoon as she hasn’t cries.i went to office saw the boys unhappy.Because the students got their teacher’s goat became they didn’t do their homework..I think this is my teacher unhappy’s cause. Today, I saw a boy ,he played the handset.But didn’t saw the walls so he Rnocked we laugh up our sleeve at he knocked ,but he hurt his norse in the accident, and he was laying it on thick about how painful it was .

I went to summer camp on vacation. On the first day, we went to a beautiful beach. It was a sunny and hot day, so we went swimming. The water was warm and we had great fun. Then the next day, we went to the mountains. There were many trees and I really enjoyed them. On the last day, we had a great party. We sang and danced happily. 10.How to make friends
It’s hard to make friends if you stay alone all the time. It’s easier to make friends when you have similar interests.
Don’t be afraid to show people what you are really good at. Talk about the things you like and do best.
Look at people in the eyes when you talk to them.
Be a good listener. Let people talk about themselves before talking about yourself.
Be friendly to a lot of people. Try to help your friends when they are in trouble because a friend in need is a friend indeed. That way you’ll have a bigger group to choose from and have more chances to make friends.
11. My view on television
Television has come into our life for many years.
We can’t live happily without television. It can give us the latest information and news. It can open up our eyes and enlarge our knowledge. We can get happiness from the plays on television. We’ll be boring all day if there is no television. Television programs are attractive. After a whole day’s hard work we can sit before the television and drink a cup of tea. How wonderful it is!
Television is also bad for people’s health. It’s bad for you to watch TV too long, especially bad for your eyes.

12.Generation gap between parents and children
Nowadays , there are more and more misunderstanding between parents and children which is so- called generation gap . It is estimated that (75 percentages of parents often complain their children’s unreasonable behavior while children usually think their parents too old fashioned).
Why have there been so much misunderstanding between parents and children? Maybe the reasons can be listed as follows . The first one is that ( the two generations, having grown up at different times, have different likes and dislikes ,thus the disagreement often rises between them) . Besides(e to having little in common to talk about , they are not willing to sit face to face ) . The third reason is (with the pace of modern life becoming faster and faster , both of them are so busy with their work or study that they don’t spare enough time to exchange ideas ).To sum up ,the main cause of XX is e to ( lake of communication and understanding each other) .
It is high time that something were done upon it. For one thing (children should respect their parents ).On the other hand ,( parents also should show solicitue for their children). All these measures will certainly bridge the generation gap .
13.My Little "Pen Pal"
I met a girl called Sue on the Intemet. We are of the same age. And we talked happily with each other. So we decided to write to each other daily, of course through e-mail. We can write down what we feel and what we think and then forward to each other. We also try to write in English. She once lived in the United States with her parents, so she can speak native English. In this way, we are getting closer and closer. And furthermore both of our English has improved quickly and greatly. How nice it is to have a "pen pal"
